Becoming More Involved in the Body of Christ.

Beloved, we are part of something greater than ourselves. God has placed each one of us in this church on purpose and with purpose. The church is not just a building—it is the living Body of Christ, and every part matters. The Apostle Paul reminds us, “Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it” (1 Corinthians 12:27). That means your presence, your gifts, your prayers, your encouragement—all of it plays a vital role in what God is doing here.

When we participate more fully in the life of the church, we not only strengthen others—we grow ourselves. Scripture tells us, “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another” (Proverbs 27:17). We are sharpened, encouraged, and strengthened through fellowship, service, worship, and learning together. Our spiritual growth was never meant to happen in isolation.

The author Dietrich Bonhoeffer once wrote in Life Together, “The physical presence of other Christians is a source of incomparable joy and strength to the believer.” Simply put—we need one another. When we show up and get involved, we bless others, and we are blessed in return.

Hebrews encourages us saying, “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together… but encouraging one another” (Hebrews 10:24–25). Your involvement encourages others. Your smile lifts someone’s spirit. Your testimony strengthens someone’s faith. Your service opens the door for someone to know Christ.

So let us lean in—not out. Let us be builders, participants, worshipers, helpers, and encouragers. God has work for us to do, and He has gifted each of us to do it.
